On the Mend

Time for my Link update! RSV has a 4-5 day period of getting worse before getting better, and I think we've officially rounded the corner. Over the past few days, he's been taken off the ventilators, put on a CPAP machine, given breathing treatments, and started on feeding tube feedings. Today, he got even better! They moved him to the Infant's Unit and is no longer critical enough to be in the PICU. Yay! They took out all the cords and IVs, and the only thing he's hooked up to is a nasal cannula and a VERY small amount of oxygen. I was able to hold him and feed him, and I think it made him feel better. He snuggled right into my chest and passed out. He was the most peaceful I've seen him in a long time, and it was definitely a healing moment for me. I needed the snuggles. We're hoping to wean him off the oxygen over night and into the morning, and (fingers crossed) MAYBE go home tomorrow or Sunday. I can't thank everyone enough for all of the love and support that they've shown us.

And, I need to amend my previous post for my mom. I did want to point out that it was HER that saved the day and possibly my baby on Monday. Ryan wasn't sold on taking Lincoln to the ER, but mom put on her worried grandma pants and kicked him out the door. If it wasn't for her quick thinking, we may have missed getting him to help in time. So thank you, mom, for always having our backs. I'm glad this time I didn't have to say "I should have listened to mom." She's been so great, helping us with the babies since coming home, and I can never repay her for what she's done. Her and Ryan's family, for that matter. Ryan's parents have been watching the girls, and it's so nice to not have to worry, and to know that they're in good hands. Hopefully we haven't tired them out too much! Anyway, we love you all!!

He hated that breathing tube SO much!

They took him off the ventilators, and his voice was so raspy and sad! It is hard for me to even watch this video, but Ryan insisted on recording it...

The CPAP machine. He hated that just as much as the breathing tube. It made his nose look piggy-ish, and Ryan really didn't like that.

It was so nice getting to see him without all the cords

When he heard us talking, he opened his eyes and gave us this sad puppy dog face. Like "where have you been?"

Who is this crazy lady?

I was SO happy to hold him. And happy to see him eat!

I played dress up and put him in a onsie.
