I Want My Mommy

We started to notice on Saturday that Joel wasn't feeling well. He clearly had tummy issues, on top of being extra cuddly, both signs of a sick baby. During the night, Erin and Drew both got whatever bug he had. No one else in the house was sick, so we just assumed it was food poisoning, from something they ate as a family. I was relieved it was something that wasn't contagious, since we'd all been together for so long...buuuuuut I spoke too soon

Sunday night was killer!! We got Lilly in bed at around 7. Usually we'll go into our room and watch shows and veg. I didn't want to do any of my normal routine. I was just kind of out of it and had no desires. Then, the fever hit right before bed. I was SO cold. Ryan bundled me up before he fell asleep, but he didn't get to stay asleep very long. This is when I started to clue in that I had what the Madsens had. Any time I moved, I wanted to vomit, and there was a very ominous grumble happening down in my tummy. It was about midnight at this point, and I was still freezing. So freezing, in fact, that I was convulsing in pain and had yet to fall asleep because of it. I just wanted to cry. I hated to have to do it, but I woke Ryan up and begged for the heating pad. Poor guy was so tired, but I knew that if I got up to do it, we'd mostly likely be cleaning something up off the floor.

The heating pad was amazing, but didn't cut the chill at all. It wasn't until 4 in the morning, after countless trips to the bathroom, a few trips to the closet to put on as many layers as I could, and 1 trip to the kitchen to get a drink, since I was so thirsty from being dehydrated, that I started to warm up. The fever never went away, and I stayed clammy and sticky all night. When Ryan got up at 7, we jumped into panic mode, for finding someone to watch Lilly. I couldn't even stand up without tipping over from how weak and dizzy I was, there was no way I was going to be able to watch Lilly.

Susan and Jack came to the rescue! Susan raced over first thing in the morning, took Lilly up to my mom's for a quick visit, and then spent the rest of the day with Lilly, down in Provo. They took her to see apartments they were interested in, they let her play in their apartments, and they kept her until about 8:30 that night, so they could take her to a UVU FHE event. When they brought her home, she was a kind of tired that I don't think we've ever seen before. Jack handed her to Ryan, who started to take off her coat, and she was asleep the whole time. She kept trying to wake up and say hi, but she just passed out on the couch. She had that much fun! Oh, and according to Susie, Lilly now knows how to say "Susie". It sounds more like "Oozie," but that counts!

I can't thank Ryan, Jack, and Susan for how much they helped me yesterday. I was telling Ryan the other day that they only thing I wanted for my birthday was a nap, a long, uninterrupted, as-long-as-I-want nap. This wasn't how I wanted to get it, but I literally slept the whole day, and it was just what I needed. My tummy is still is bit grumbly, but I have more energy, and I don't feel like I'm going to pass out. I'm just worried that Lilly now has it, because it's 9:00, and she's still asleep. I'm hoping that's just because of the late bedtime...fingers crossed.

Lots of fluids and crackers.

The first thing she saw at Jack's apartment was his magnets. She LOVES magnets.
Leave it to Jack to teach her sports. The best part of this video is how she keeps running up to the Jack cutout.  And when Jack says "it's part daddy," he says that because the body of the cutout is Ryan's, but the head is Jack's.
I got a text with this video. It said "I'm culturing your daughter!" Oh, okay, then maybe I should send her with you more often, so she can play sports and get "cultured." ha!
