Tidbits

This last week was busy, but I'm probably going to be saying that about every week until the holidays pass. I have been really terrible at keeping the blogging world updated on what's happened recently with Ryan's job. So, after realizing that Ryan was being WAY underpaid at his current company, and struggling with the fact that we didn't have insurance, he decided to start looking around for somewhere else to work. Per the request of my dad, and against all begging from our Utah family, we applied to tons of jobs in Seattle. It's a better area for the line of work that Ryan's in. I had my fingers crossed that one of those would come through, but was also kind of hoping we could stay in Utah, but make what we would make in Seattle. Anyway, after waiting and waiting, and getting stressed about the fact that not only were we having a hard time putting anything into savings, and it seemed like having no insurance was a message to the world to send illness our way, we got the answer to our prayers. 

While I was in Seattle, Ryan called me, and I could hear the panic in his voice. Well, I perceived it as panic, when really it was uncontrollable joy. A company that he had interviewed with had not only offered him the job, but nearly doubled what we were making at the last job. AND, he actually gets paid holidays (didn't have that before), INSURANCE (and GOOD insurance, for way cheap), a new laptop, a new iPad Air (Ryan and his toys!), reimbursement for his gym pass, etc, etc. I could go on, but when I start listing off how amazing this new job is, I start to feel like I'm dreaming. The gist of the story is that we have had lots of blessings rain down on us lately. We're SO excited to be able to finally act on some of the plans that were on hold because of how much that other job was holding us back. 

Anyway, like I was saying, Ryan had Monday and Tuesday off, since he had some downtime between jobs. He helped out with Joel and Lilly on Monday. I had to run out to go grocery shopping (and let me just say how much I've missed going alone!), and when I came back, he had me laughing at what I walked in on. When I opened the front door, I found Lilly (still in her jammies), pushing Joel around in the doll stroller, and Joel was pantless. Ha! Lilly thinks it's a blast to have a real baby to push around, and Joel just holds on for dear life, and doesn't really seem to care that we've put his life in the hands of a crazy, baby driver. 

On Wednesday, Ryan started his new job. He could have had the whole week off, but he decided to start work Wednesday, so we could get insurance for December, and get Thursday and Friday as paid holidays. So, I made him look like a dork and hold a "first day!" sign for me. He really only stayed at work for a few hours, and admitted that they didn't really even need him to come in, but it was nice to test the waters. While Ryan was at work, I was at home, being a dumb blonde. The key ring on my lanyard split apart, and all of my keys have been falling off. I ended up just putting a bunch of loose keys in my pocket whenever I went anywhere. I left the house to run errands, and right as I locked the door and pulled it closed, I remembered the the key to the front door was still on the kitchen counter. Crap. I knew that I gave Erin and Drew, and Jack a key. I didn't bother calling Jack, since I assumed he either lost it, or was busy and couldn't drive up from Provo. I ran my errands, and then Erin came to try to help me in. None of the keys that she had worked, but it ended up not mattering, because I called and had Ryan come home during his lunch, just in case none of Erin's keys worked, and he showed up right as she did. Phew!! At least I didn't lock myself outside while Lilly was still inside. I'm dumb enough to do that, too!

Other than some very dumb blonde moments, the week was mostly just filled with shopping and errand running. I had a lot to do to get back into the swing of life. Being gone for two weeks is hard! 

Her new thing lately has been chewing on her blanket. 

Ryan made me steak for dinner on Tuesday. He was upset at himself because he overcooked it, but hey, steak is steak to me! I thought it was yummy! Buuuuut, I must have eaten too much, because I ended up getting sick later that night because I was too full. Sorry, Ry!

One of the errands that we had to run this day was going to Home Depot. They were giving out free popcorn (popcorn is one of Lilly's favorites), so I just let her munch away while we waited for Ryan and Erin to unlock the front door.
