Home Improvement

Another day where we ended up doing the exact opposite of what we planned. We had planned to hang out for most of the day, and then drive up North to have a game night with Ryan's family. But between Ryan's brother getting sick and a super scary snow storm, we had to cancel. That's when I became super bored. It always drives Ryan nuts when I pace the house, looking for something to clean or organize. I'll be the first to admit that the words "I'm bored" leave my mouth far too often. He finally just blurted out "okay, what do you want to go do?" Secretly I wanted to go to Walmart and IKEA to grab a few things. Ryan gave me permission to do Easter baskets this year, so I wanted to grab some basket stuffers. And from IKEA, I wanted to get a few frames to complete ANOTHER project that I saw on Pinterest.

Lucky for us, the snow stopped right as we were heading out. I was able to find lots of fun stuff for the Easter baskets (I'm only doing them for Ryan and Lilly, since I can't eat any candy, and other than that, I don't need to waste more money on nonsense for Nanny). IKEA was the store I was most excited for. I've realized that IKEA and Target are the two stores that make it really hard for me to not spend all of our money. I found my frames, but, of course, I found much more. Actually, other than the frames, I only bought two metal, fold-out chairs for when we have guests. For $8, you really can't say no. We always seem to be lacking seating. As we were walking around, I started to feel sick from how empty my tummy was. I get hungry (and full) super fast, so I have to constantly be snacking. I had breakfast, but ended up puking, so my tummy was not feeling good. We decided to have lunch in the little cafe.

There wasn't much that I could eat, other than the meatballs and the salad. That was fine with me, since I've only recently been cleared to eat fresh veggies. They are such a great change of pace. I literally only had 3 meatballs (with the cranberry sauce mixture...YUM), and maybe two bites of salad before I was trying not to get sick from eating too much. Ryan was killing me with his soda. Soda is still SO hard for me, even watching others drink it makes me want to cry. Ugh, I don't think I'm ever going to get over it. Anyway, Lilly enjoyed a few bites of mashed potatoes and gravy.

After a quick visit with my mom, we tried not to die on the way home, since another wall of snow decided to fall on us. I was super anxious to get home to start more projects. I had three. One was a shelf above Ryan's desk. I've had an extra one sitting around forever, and it only just occurred to me that Ryan has lots of work awards that he could display. Then next was the project that took us to IKEA in the first place. And lastly was one that I didn't even plan on until we went to my mom's. We found a really cute floating shelf in her basement, and since it wasn't getting used, she said we could have it. Score!! Thanks, mom! It looks way cute in the dining room. Hopefully the banging from the upstairs demon child doesn't knock down my plates.
Before and After. Ryan wouldn't let me even have a taste of the potatoes. Hmmf!
She was super happy. She just chewed on her toys and occassionally screamed out "MAMA!"

As if we didn't know whose desk that was.

I saw this idea on Pinterest and fell in love.  The middle frame says "Love at first sight." The rest hold Lilly's ultrasounds. I'm so in love with the frames from IKEA. They're only $2!! I can think of so many fun things to do with them. Shhh, don't tell Ryan.

The shelf is super durable (just ask my mom. We couldn't even get it off the wall at her house.) I love how it looks. It'll be fun to set holiday stuff up on it
