First, Lilly has her first cold. I should have clued in to the fact that something was wrong when she 1) wouldn't go to sleep last night, and instead cried for an hour, 2) woke up at midnight, 2, 4, and 6, and 3) had the sniffles during each of those feedings. When we got her up this morning, she was all congested, flush, and warm. Thankfully, the baby thermometer says she doesn't have an official fever yet, so we'll keep monitoring that. I'm now covered in baby puke, drool, and snot. Ugh, I never knew a baby could produce so many gooey substances. My new best friend has become the little, blue brain sucker, as my mom and I call it. She hates it when I have to suction out her nose. We got a humidifier, some baby vapor rub, and some saline nasal spray for the nights, so hopefully we can help our little angel sleep well tonight. I got my flu shot today...kinda thinking maybe it was a little too late

Second, Captain Peg-leg Willie is still gimpy. I took her in for another checkup, and they're making her keep on her cast for another two weeks. The vet and I both felt like we'd be more comfortable making her wear it for a total of 6 weeks. He could have taken it off, but not knowing how solid the healing has been, we feared that we risked her breaking it again with how much she rough-houses with June and jumps off the bed. The best part was when I went to pay, expecting to cry when I had to pay another $90, only to be told that the visit only cost $29.

| They really wrapped her good this time. She just lets her arm drag and hang at her side when she lays down. |
Thirdly, on my way home from going to the vet, I needed to stop at my mom's house to pick something up. I totally didn't expect that she would offer to babysit Lilly while I ran my errands. The quiet car ride home kept freaking me out when I would look in the backseat, forgetting that Lilly was with my mom, and panic when there was no baby. Ha! There is seriously nothing better than just getting to shop by yourself. In & out! But, I have been nursing a pretty bad shin splint, and it got to the point of being so painful, I couldn't drive. I actually had to pull over for a while, when having to switch between gas and brake became dangerously slow (almost even causing an accident) with how painful it was. My body is falling apart....
Fourth, I tried a recipe that I found on Pinterest. I asked Ryan what "different" meal he wanted for dinner this week, since I'm getting bored with salad. We tend to run through the same 6 or so recipes, and none of them sounded appealing, so I decided to try something from my "What Diet?" board. It's crock pot orange chicken. I had high hopes. I put everything in my new black & white damask crock pot and ran out to run more errands. I have to say, honestly, that I really didn't like it. It was literally ORANGE chicken. Too orangey for us. I may tinker with the recipe some to tame the orange a bit. Ryan's not much of a rice fan, so I also made vegetable stir fry on the side. That, however, was delicious! The "bad" part about dinner was that it aggravated my gallbladder...to the point of making me sick. I've just spent the last 20 minutes laying on the bathroom floor, with my head on the cold tile, back and forth between puking and sleeping. Now I have a bad connotation with this recipe. Maybe a hot shower and some cold ice cream will set me right again.

| This stuff is like gold in my house. I buy it at Smith's, and 99.9% of the time I try to find it, it's sold out. If I can find it, I stock up. |
Anyway, here's to hoping this mommy/daughter duo starts feeling better soon.
