The Classics

Long ago, when Lilly was still just a twinkle in our eyes, Ryan and I were talking about all of the things we wanted for our kids. Yes, we talked about the obligatory "I hope they go on a mission," "I hope they go to college," and from Ryan, "I hope they become a world-famous writer and pay for my retirement .." Oh, Ryan! Once we widdled down all of the normal stuff, I was telling Ryan how I wanted to try and get together a huge collection of Disney DVDs for our kids. I'd hoped that eventually my DVD collection would go from holding movies like "Alien" and "Predator" to holding nothing but the knight-in-shining-armor, animated classics. Minus the ones that traumatized me as a kid...movies like "Lion King," "Bambi," and any other that started off with killing one of the parents. No joke, Lion King STILL makes me bawl when the dad dies. If Lilly got any of my gene pool, I know it will bother her as much as it bothers me. Okay, shutting up about how much of a pansy I am...We did a little researching, made a list of specifics we each wanted, and then decided that one day we would be able to have a huge Disney movie collection.

Well, I would like to thank my brother-in-law, Drew, for stepping up and making that process much less expensive. I'm going to attempt to explain a deal that he helped us find, so pardon me if I explain it incorrectly or sound like an idiot. Basically you can become a Disney VIP by going to their website, signing up, and buying 4 DVDs for 25 cents, 1 for $10, 1 for $15, and committing to buy 2 more for full price, over the next two years. If you do that, you get a huge discount on all Disney movies. And, let's just be honest, it's not like we weren't planning on buying 2 more at full price anyway.

The ONLY thing I didn't like, was that the DVD list that we got to choose from, didn't have any of the classics like "Cinderella," "The Little Mermaid," or "Beauty & The Beast." We'll probably have to make those the ones we commit to buy. But, the list was still awesome. These are some of my favorites!
