Nexus

SAY WHA?? YOU GOT A GOOGLE NEXUS?

First was the iPod, then Ryan's iPad, then my Kindle Fire, and now, ladies and gentlemen, I would like to introduce you to the newest unnecessary piece of Goodrich technology. I would have been fine selling the Kindle Fire and leaving it at that, but Ryan insisted that I try one of the other tablets that currently claims it's better than the iPad. And so I present the Google Nexus 7. I had a bugger of a time getting the box open, but once I was able to outsmart the invisible tape and pick it up after I dropped it, I finally laid eyes on my new beauty. First impressions: it looks 100% how I imagine a mini iPad would look, it's very customizable (which I LOVE), and I'm deathly afraid to touch it, out of fear of ruining it. (Which I was afraid I had, after I dropped it. Ha!) Ryan's the tech king, but I am the great tech destroyer. Playing around with it, I found that it has a few very fun apps. First is the voice search. I push a button, say a word, and it will pull up either apps or a Google search. Second is my favorite one to play with. It's called the "what's that song" app. I push the button, and, assuming I'm listening to the radio or something, it listens for a second and then tells me the song title and artist that I'm listening to. I tested it with a few of the ringtones on my phone. It got them all right. Then I tried singing Jingle Bells to it, and it pulled up a song by Dolly Parton. Hmm, touche, Nexus, touche! Now I just need to find quiet time to finally read the books that I've been hearing such great things about. I'm wanting to read "The Host" (Nope, I still haven't jumped on that bandwagon) and "Fifty Shades of Grey" (Yep, I'm following the crowd).

iPod, I'd like you to meet Nexus. He's just like you, but bigger...don't be sad. I still love you!
