Just My Luck

You never realize how reliant on technology you are until it's gone. I found that out the hard way today. The Camry was at the dealership, having some detail work done, so there was a slight chance that Ryan would need me to pick him up. My phone is indeed dead from last night's drowning, so as I was leaving work, I sent Ryan a quick chat; "If you need to get a hold of me, email me. You can ALWAYS reach me by email." I don't like driving without a phone, just in case something happens. I made it home in one piece, and then decided to check to see if Ryan had emailed me.

I started with the iPod. No internet connection. Next, the Kindle. No internet connection. Next, Ryan's computer. Still no internet connection. A few things ran through my head "did Ryan pay the internet bill?...oh my gosh, what if Ryan's trying to get a hold of me?..." I went straight into panic mode. No phone. No internet. NO way of calling or notifying anyone, and no way of Ryan to get a hold of me. What if he needed to be picked up? Was he sitting at the dealership in a fury, wondering where the heck I was? I decided to take my mind off of things by doing chores. Laundry folded and hung, dishwasher emptied, room tidied...still no Ryan. 5 minutes until total meltdown, Ryan came creeping up the stairs. My first instinct was to apologize and beg for forgiveness for not emailing him back (I assumed he emailed), but then I saw that he was carrying a flower. Awe! All this time, I was at home freaking out about my husband, while he was out and about buying me a flower. How sweet! But it made me realize how much we rely on technology. Had something seriously been wrong, I wouldn't have had a way of getting a hold of someone. And why was the internet not working? Last night I woke up because I could hear the kitties playing with stuff on Ryan's desk. Lots of cords and expensive things to ruin. Turns out they knocked the internet modem cable loose. Dang kitties! Guess I should just suck it up and replace my phone.

In our house, with two techaholics, this is a VERY bad sign. And I never saw this until now...is it holding a pitchfork? Haha, the sign from hell!
