Today was the day that I was looking forward to the most. Cabo was exotic-looking, and I knew that this would be where my tan came from. The best part was that we got two days there. The first day in Cabo reminded us of our honeymoon. We were walking up and down the pier, trying to decide what we wanted to do, all the while getting heckled by the locals. "Honeymooners!" was the most common thing yelled at us. I also got offered free Tequila more times that I can count. They didn't even back off when I told them I was pregnant. We ran into a group of men that were trying to get us out on their boat for some snorkeling and beach-going. That's what we wanted to do, but not for $45 a person. We were about to give up when a guy offered us the same outing we wanted for $10 a person. Deal! We took a glass bottom boat around the tip of Cabo, looking at all of the tropical fish and sea lions. Then we were dropped off at a private beach called "Lover's Beach." They call it that because there are lots of rock formations and caves for people to sneak off to. There's one cave that they have a saying for..."Two go in and come out three." haha! It was really gorgeous. The boat ride was starting to make me super sick and I was worried that I wouldn't get off in time. Just as I was about to hang my head over the side, we pulled up to the beach. We had to jump out of a moving boat onto the beach before the fun could begin. I didn't care, I just wanted off. We found a good spot to lay down our towels while I tried to overcome the nausea. I was already super hot and exhausted, so we sat on our towels for a bit. Ryan wanted to go and wander the caves and whatnot, but I didn't have it in me. So he left me while he took some pictures. By then I was a little too hot, so I tried to relocate to the shade. Bad idea! I had to walk through molten hot sand to get anywhere. It really took it out of me. I actually sat down and cried because of how frustrated I was with my body. I felt so fat and tired. Just walking in the sand was too much. This pregnancy is really taking it out of me. When Ryan came back, he bought me a water and sat with his lame wife. We did have fun, don't get me wrong. I just felt like I held us back....In the end, I got my tan, Ryan didn't burn, and we got a bunch of cute pictures with some baby flip flops we brought along.
I was dreading the return journey. It hadn't occurred to me until then that I had to get back onto the boat. The boats were pulling up and people were just jumping onto them while they were moving. I knew if I couldn't handle walking in sand, there was no way I could pull myself up onto a moving boat. The boat came, I waded through the water up to the side, and was so upset when the boat came up to eye level when the guy said "okay, hop on!". I wondered to myself if I could really pull myself up. Nope. Of course, Ryan was already on and everyone could see the terrified look on my face. Just then, a little Mexican man ran up, planted his leg in the water and said "step on my knee!" I was like "only if you want me to break your leg!!" But by that point I was so embarrassed, I just did it. I stepped on his knee, Ryan grabbed my arm, and I literally just plopped onto the deck of the boat. I looked like a beached whale. And I bashed my tummy pretty hard. That was the worst part. But we made it back to the ship with no other incident. I didn't even get sick again.
We had a nice guy on our boat that kept offering to take our picture. I was so sick, but didn't want to say no. I just thought to myself "don't throw up on camera, don't throw up on camera..."
I had more plans for pictures, but I was too miserable to take much more.
Ryan got super burned on the last cruise, so I promised that I wouldn't let that happen this time. Don't be fooled. He may be tanning, but he's lathered in sunscreen.
