Surviving

Day 3 with no Ryan was successful. Poor Joel was showing signs of being pretty sick yesterday, so Erin kept him home today, and will keep him home tomorrow. I needed to make a quick, early-morning Walmart run today, so I packed Lilly up after breakfast (still in her jammies) and we ran out the door. I didn't want to infringe on her nap too much. As I was walking by the toy aisle, a woman from LEGO was setting up a display. Lilly must have charmed her with her cute "hi!," because she gave us free Legos!

Once home, Lilly went down for a nap. I don't think she actually fell asleep for quite a while. I laid down on the couch and dozed off, not waking up until about 12:45. I had a 1:30 gym daycare appointment for Lilly, so I had to hurry. I hate having to wake her up from naps!! Thank goodness it didn't seem to affect her at all. Oh, and yes, you read that correctly. I gave up a nap for the gym. Whoa!

While Lilly pretended to take her afternoon nap, I decided to finally work on a project that's been sitting on my desk for months. I wanted to get bookends for Lilly, but I didn't like any of the ones online. They were boring. So I went to the craft store and bought two wooden blocks and "A" and "Z" wooden letters. I painted them to look like clouds, and I'm actually pretty happy with how they turned out. I drilled a hole into each of them, with the intent of filling them with something heavy, otherwise the books will just push them aside. I'm not sure what to use yet. Marbles? I'll let you know when I figure it out.

We're surviving this time without Ryan. I miss him, but I've admitted to him that sometimes having time by myself is good for me. It's funny, because Ryan was telling me today how, when he's not with me, he literally can't function. He has lots of work to do, but no motivation to do it. I, on the other hand, thrive when Ryan's gone. I check things off my To Do list, and it feels like my productivity skyrockets. I just think it has something to do with the fact that I can accomplish more when I have one less person to worry about. He gets home around midnight tomorrow, and we sure can't wait to have him back.

This entire wall only cost $5 to put together. woo!!

She likes to steal my watch now. But she refuses to use the hand that it's on.

She popped out of the curtains and scared June

She's probably still a little young for these, but she thinks they're nifty. I dumped the bucket out on the ottoman, and she proceeded to put them all away. Later, she ran around with them stuck on her fingers, because apparently sticking your fingers into the holes is more fun than stacking them.

Ryan wanted proof that I was going to the gym and not just saying I was...this is what I texted him

During our Monday night shopping trip, I became "that" mom. I tried to make the trip as quick as possible, but I was still pushing Lilly too close to dinner time. So, as she started to yell out "MORE!" (her way of saying "feed me!!!") every time we saw something she liked, I just decided to grab a bag of Teddy Grahams and open them right there in the store. She was quite happy after that. Oh, and don't you just LOVE her kitty shirt? I got it at Kid-2-Kid, and she loves to point at all of the kitties.

We have started making a trip to see the fishies a mandatory part of every Walmart trip.

I've been sporting wrist bruises like this for the past couple of weeks. I get a new pair each week after every grocery shopping trip. I just HAVE to get all the groceries in on one trip!!
