It's always so nice to be back home after a vacation, no matter how short the trip. I still had to watch Joel on Monday. Poor guy is probably so sick of me. I usually clean our sheets on the 1st of every month, but since I knew we'd be going to Yellowstone with most of our bedding, I waited until after the trip to get everything cleaned. So, not only did I have about 6 loads of clothes to clean, I also had a few loads of sheets to do as well. It was a long day of laundry and cleaning.
Joel has a pretty bad cold right now, so Erin and Drew are keeping him home for today and tomorrow. I used the opportunity today to go grocery shopping. I think I take having one child for granted a lot. I used to complain about how I missed going into the grocery store without any kids, and now I think it's relaxing going in with just one. I must be losing my mind! After shopping, I went to get a car wash. I hate the amount of bugs my windshield accumulates on road trips. Sadly, I had to find out the very hard way that Lilly is mortified of the car wash. She was absolutely inconsolable. I didn't know what to do, other than stroke her arm and tell her over and over again that it was going to be okay. Seriously, it made me want to cry having to see her so scared. Ironically, I still have memories of how badly the car wash scared me when I was little. I may skip making that something she remembers, and only ever do it when I'm out by myself.
Sorry about the background noise. I was vacuuming when Lilly decided to be naughty. Despite having gotten the tallest baby gate we could find, this little stinker has figured out how to open it. Usually whenever I have my back turned or I'm in the other room, all of the sudden she'll come running down the hall at full sprint, with a huge smile on her face. I might be a little more upset if it wasn't so dang cute.
We decided to use a gift card for dinner last night, so we packed up the fully jammied baby and headed out for some BBQ. I don't know why, but all she wanted to do yesterday was give kisses. I felt like Oprah, "YOU GET A KISS, YOU GET A KISS, EVERYBODY GETS A KISS!!"
