Born to Shop!

It's been a long time since my mom and I have gotten to go out shopping like we did today. We used to be the best shopping buddies. Clearance racks were our favorite, and we would high-five when we got a great deal. Since marrying Ryan, I've been toned down quite a bit. Saying that he hates to shop is an understatement. Anything to do with spending money just stresses him out...but I think everyone is that way to an extent. So getting out and hanging with my mom today felt like the old days.

We met up with my mom around 2, headed over to Kohl's (again!) and picked out some stuff for Easter. The reality of this story is that we had to go to her house to drop something off, and she promised she'd sweeten the deal by taking us to Kohl's and "maybe buying a certain coral pink shirt..." She definitely knows what gets me! Well, Easter came early this year, that's for sure. I got two shirts, a beautiful maxi dress (that I'm hoping to work into to wear for a cruise, or even this summer), and a pair of Nike's that were on a you'd-be-crazy-to-pass-up-a-deal-like-this sale. Ryan got two nice work shirts and ties. They're button-down shirts, but he wears those all the time outside of work anyway.

After our Kohl's adventures, Ryan had to ditch for school, so my mom and I were finally unsupervised and allowed to go to the stores we wanted to go to. I usually try not to drag Ryan along for shopping, because he really does hate it...and, I won't lie, it sucks the joy out of the whole thing! Sorry, babe! After a quick stop at Sonic to allow mom to torture me with her soda, we hit Down East, where I got a pretty orange, lace shirt and an undershirt. The main point of the second round of shopping was to go to Spoons & Spice (a kitchen supply store...AKA Kitchen Heaven!!) for my mom to spend a gift card that she got for her birthday. If you've ever been to this store, you know it's one you spend a good hour, walking around, debating whether or not to put everything in your cart.

Except, this time around, as they didn't have shopping carts, I had to carry Lilly the whole time. At first she was fine, trying grab everything, but content in my arms. Then, after having to set her down to avoid losing my arm, she realized that all of the fun stuff to destroy was on the floor. So I spent the rest of what felt like a very long time in this store, trying to keep her from writhing in my arms. She was doing the back arching and fit throwing, but there was no way I was going to let her roam free around knives and glass. It was such a relief to finally leave, as much as I love the store...GET SOME CARTS!!

On our way out of Spoons & Spice, we made the mistake of noticing that there was a Kid-to-Kid next door. Thankfully for me, they had a cart. But by that point, Lilly was cranky and hungry, so I spent the whole time feeding her Cheerios to get her to stay calm. So here's the thing...Why haven't I ever been to Kid-to-Kid before??? It's basically new stuff for a fraction of the price! We got Lilly a handful of outfits for way cheap. Seriously, every outfit was $2. Granted, the bulk of the purchase was spent on bows and hair stuff, since the friendly checkout guy informed us of the "bow club." All I can say is that I will definitely be going back.

I had another instance of wanting to buy this shirt in every color, but I settled on orange.

These will be perfect for our walks, and hopefully one day, my running shoes. (haha, I had to chuckle when I put the words "my" and "running" in the same sentence.)

I loved the little bally things around the neck and arms.

Isn't it pretty!? Do you see now why I had a hard time picking between Tiffany blue and coral?

This dress just screamed "BEACH." One day, dress, one day.

I picked this one for one thing...the little fishies on the straps.

What you can't see is that the shirt pattern is chiffon. Our Lilly-bug will look so cute!!
She got a hat, a flower for each of the outfits we picked, and a few lace headbands. The four flowers on the left are for me.
