Retail Therapy

It had to happen sometime. I was trying to avoid it at all costs...when will I learn that you just can't avoid depression? There's a lot of back-story to all of this. Ryan and I are moving to Provo, and have spent the last week looking at condos and townhouses. We fell in love with a condo, but after lots of discussion, praying, and weighing the pros and cons, we decided not to go with it. Our decision was based on the fact that we could live modestly and save for the next two years, and then we'd have enough to buy a nice, beautiful, big house for me to decorate. It was a hard decision for me to come to terms with because I had already started planning how I would decorate and what furniture we would buy. I literally fell into a depression over it. I never thought I'd say this, but looking through Pinterest became a tear-jerker. I've been quite the brat lately. I won't lie, I was slightly resentful, not necessarily at Ryan, just the situation, so we've not been having a good few days. How did we fix that? Well, he came home at lunch today and took me to my favorite Chinese buffet. Food ALWAYS makes my world right. I've been dieting so much lately, I guess I'm just cranky anyway from lack of deliciousness and a full belly. Then, for the evening's activities, I decided to take my anger out on Ryan...well, his wallet, rather. Haha! We ended up at IKEA.  As we were leaving the house, I said "Ryan, I'm mad at you for not letting us get the condo. So I declare that I get to buy anything I want at IKEA!" He didn't argue...good hubby! As we wandered the store, I was throwing little things in the cart, and each time he glared at me, I just said "I'm mad at you! I'm slowly forgiving you!" Ha! I'm a terrible wife. By the time we left, we were goofing and giggling; two things I haven't been doing a lot lately from how upset I've been. The best part was when he really made an effort to make me feel better, by telling me that he wanted to buy the dresser that I ogle each time we go. Yay! Ryan, you are forgiven! We have to borrow a bigger car before we can go pick it up, but soon enough I can get rid of the piece-of-junk dresser that I've had since I was 6. It's time to grow up! Anyway, I feel so much better now. Hopefully I'll be able to get out of this bad mood funk I'm in.

All my new toys!! I got a pull-out wall mirror for the bathroom (I've always wanted one for doing my makeup...I won't put it up until we move though), a big, metal mixing bowl, 8 tiny dipping sauce glasses (we actually needed those), salt and pepper shakers (our current cardboard, disposable ones keep dumping pepper because the tab won't stay closed), a strainer spoon for when I fry stuff like popcorn chicken, scones, and Navajo tacos, 2 rolls of brightly-colored wrapping paper (it's always good to have some laying around...Ryan's birthday is next week!!), and 4 tiny jars for my future craft room. And the whole lot only cost $25!! WOOOO!! Guess I didn't really take my anger out too badly on Ryan's wallet.

I'm a sucker for mini things. Even if I didn't need them, I would have gotten them anyway because they're tiny and cute. Ha!

Perfect little jars for my buttons and scrapbook decals

My new dresser! I can't wait to finally have it set up!

Silly daddy!

Oh hey, this is actually kinda fun!
